So my wife’s sister lives with her girlfriend, who is an alcoholic and just got her first motorcycle, a 600-cc class sportbike that is obviously too much bike for her.
So when she inevitably crashes it and totals it, I almost want to sweep in and get the engine and transmission, if they’re still good:
and find a tiny convertible to transplant them into. One of these would be awesome:
Or this could be even better:

Or a Smart.

lol I was thinking “Geo Metro” before I even scrolled down and saw the pic. I have actually seen a Metro (hard top) at C&C once that had a bike engine of some kind in it. Sounded so funny.

I’ve seen some LeMons Metros with 1100cc motorcycle engines and they’re goddamn quick but holy god are they loud. I’ve no idea what it’s like inside the car but it seems popular to mount the engine in the passenger seat, and it’s gotta be deafening and hot as hell in there.

Motorcycle engine driven mid engined LeMons Metros are actually pretty common.

so you want to build a kei car? I think the smallest you could reasonably use is a Geo Metro, Ford Festiva, or (if any haven’t been riced or trashed) an ‘80s CRX HF.

Interesting idea, with enough sound deadening. Or alternatively you could get something like a UTV and have a blast in the woods

Well, I’d go Geo. My red Metro-sauraus Rex back in college had tint, custom pin striping, and rims to boot. Why on such a shitty car? Because love of that car.
It truly was a fun, but pitiful car. I’d have to turn off the A/C to accelerate at stop lights. The catalytic converter crapped out.
I’m sure a motorcycle engine would be a step up.

I think there’s more important things to do than debate what vehicle to replace the sportbike with though.
I would consider life insurance in the meantime though.

The Geo is practical-ish, but the Nash would be great outright. I’d just be sure whatever the final resting place that it had enough muffler for the job. No reason for it sound like a racebike until you open it up.

A 100hp engine that makes all it’s power over 7k rpm would be shitty in a car. Just saying.

I swap it into an Amphicar.

It’s pretty goddamn fun and not as terrible as you think. With the proper gearing

A smart ForTwo convertible would be interesting... and I’ve seen some with bike engines.

It would be awesome. And RWD

How many seconds of driving do you think it would take before you flipped it? I can’t imagine how twitchy one of those mini cars would be at any kind of high speed.

May I recommend a little Mercury which really wished it was rear engined?
